Palliative & Comfort Care

A comfort care or palliative care nurse practitioner helps terminally patients manage symptoms.

We offer palliative care and comfort care as a hospice alternative to help patients and loved ones manage all symptoms of a terminal illness — whether physical, emotional, spiritual, or social. Our palliative care teams are made up of compassionate caregivers, including experienced palliative care nurse practitioners, who provide heartfelt care to patients and their families.

Palliative care nursing aims to improve the overall wellbeing of both a patient and his or her family, no matter what the prognosis.

We’ve found that many patients need comfort care such as pain and symptom management that hospice can provide, but they don’t qualify for hospice care because they have chosen to continue curative treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, or dialysis. In such scenarios, palliative care is a hospice alternative that can help patients and their families maintain comfort, dignity, and hope during their treatment process.

In addition to the comfort care and palliative care nursing services offered through The Carpenter Health Network’s hospice services and locations, we also offer palliative care services through these teams:
